Actor Nana Patekar, 75, died of an acute myocardial infarction caused by coronary artery disease, according to the autopsy report issued by a panel of doctors at Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim.

According to Panaji Police, the cause of death was attributed to acute myocardial infarction consequent to left main coronary artery thrombosis secondary to atherosclerotic occlusive coronary artery disease. The doctors classified the death as natural.

Police said they received information from Manipal Hospital, Dona Paula, at around 5.30 am on October 8 that Patekar had been brought dead to the hospital. An unnatural death case (UD No. 62/2026) was subsequently registered at Panaji Police Station under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.

The body was shifted to GMC Bambolim, where an inquest panchnama was conducted in the presence of panch witnesses and the deceased's nephew, Prasad Parkar. A panel of doctors subsequently conducted the post-mortem examination and issued the autopsy report on October 8.

During the inquiry, police found that Patekar had sent a WhatsApp message to family friend Amey Naik at around 2.30 am, informing him that he was not feeling well. After receiving no response to the message, Patekar reportedly called Naik and informed him about his condition.

Naik saw the message at around 3.30 am and immediately rushed to Patekar's flat at Dona Paula. According to the police inquiry, Patekar was dressed and seated on a sofa when he became unconscious.

Naik then alerted the watchman to arrange a vehicle from Manipal Hospital. An emergency vehicle reached the residence, and Patekar was taken to Manipal Hospital at around 4.30 am, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police also recorded the statements of Prasad Parkar and Malhar Patekar, the actor's son. Both reportedly stated that they did not suspect any foul play in his death.

Further inquiry is in progress under the supervision of the Panaji Police Inspector.
