The family of 17-year-old Rahul Bind, who drowned during a school-organised trek to a waterfall in Valpoi, has demanded justice and accountability, as questions continue to be raised over alleged negligence and safety lapses during the excursion.

Valpoi Police have registered a case against four teachers and two tour operators in connection with the incident. According to police, the students were allegedly taken into a wildlife area without proper permission and were subsequently allowed to enter a waterfall area despite the potential risks.

Following the tragedy, family members staged a protest outside Deep Vihar Higher Secondary School in Vasco, demanding justice and action against those responsible.

Police personnel were deployed outside the school to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident.
The issue has also drawn the attention of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who said he has directed authorities to take action against everyone found responsible for the student's death. “Clear-cut, I have directed that action be taken against everyone,” Sawant said.
