An alleged robbery attempt was foiled at Siolim-Marna in the early hours of September 8 after an alert house owner and local residents caught two suspects attempting to enter a residence.

The incident reportedly took place between 1.30 am and 2 am, when the two suspects allegedly tried to gain entry into the house through the rear and subsequently through a balcony door. They also allegedly attempted to redirect a CCTV camera while carrying out the suspected break-in.

The house owner was alerted by the barking of a dog and immediately contacted neighbours. The suspects fled from the spot but were intercepted by alert locals, along with Panchayat member William Fernandes.

The duo were reportedly found carrying an iron rod, screwdriver and a black bag. They were subsequently handed over to the Anjuna Police.

PSI Navneet Goltekar and police personnel reached the spot and took the suspects to the police station for further investigation. Further details are awaited as police continue their inquiry.
