The Crime Branch has arrested businessman Satish Shinde as the seventh accused in connection with the shooting of businessman Shrinivas Naik outside the Majestic Hotel in Porvorim.
According to police sources, the six accused arrested earlier have reportedly named Shinde during interrogation. Investigators suspect that Shinde may have played a role in arranging the shooters involved in the attack.
Police are also probing whether Shinde was allegedly acting on the instructions of another person. The Crime Branch is examining the possibility of a larger conspiracy behind the shooting.
Shinde is reportedly a businessman originally from Borivali, Mumbai. He is said to have business interests in Goa, including hotels and casino-related activities.
Police are also looking into his previous records as part of the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch is attempting to establish the exact role of Shinde and identify any person who may have allegedly directed or facilitated the attack.
Investigators are also examining whether a business dispute could have been a possible motive behind the incident.
