Mapusa witnessed two separate theft incidents, with thieves targeting three shops at the Municipal Market and a residential flat in Ganeshpuri.

In the first incident, unidentified thieves broke into three shops in the vegetable market area of the Mapusa Municipal Market and reportedly made away with around ₹1 lakh in cash along with other valuables.

Police reached the spot and began investigating the break-in. The exact circumstances of the incident and the total value of the stolen property are being assessed.

In the second incident, five unidentified thieves allegedly broke into a flat at a residential society in Ganeshpuri around 1 am yesterday.

The suspects reportedly broke the door lock and entered the flat before stealing a gold mangalsutra, gold earrings and gold rings kept inside a cupboard.

The thieves reportedly fled after the flat owner arrived at the flat.

Mapusa Police are investigating both cases, with efforts underway to identify and trace the suspects.
