Panaji Police have registered a case against Ajit Shankhwalkar for allegedly cheating three members of a family of a total of ₹1.27 crore through separate deals involving a fake government appointment letter, a job promise and a property matter.

According to the allegations, Shankhwalkar took ₹27 lakh from Manoj Talekar by providing him with a fake appointment letter claiming that he had been appointed as Goa’s Excise Commissioner.

In another alleged fraud, Shankhwalkar promised to secure a job in the Education Department for Talekar’s sister in exchange for ₹22 lakh.

Talekar’s father was allegedly cheated of ₹78 lakh in a separate property-related matter, taking the total alleged amount involved in the three cases to ₹1.27 crore.

The case has raised questions over the alleged use of fake government documents and promises of government jobs to extract money from people.

Meanwhile, the Goa Forward Party has alleged that the accused enjoyed government patronage. The allegation remains a political claim and has not been established as a fact.
