Nearly two months after concerns were raised over the deteriorating condition of Nehru Stadium in Margao, repair work on loose sheets and iron rods reportedly remains pending, raising fresh concerns over spectator safety ahead of the ISL season.

The issue was highlighted a few months ago after sheets and iron rods at the stadium were found in a dangerous condition, with concerns that they could fall and pose a risk to people.

On the same day the report was published, Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar was questioned about the issue and had said that immediate work orders would be issued.

However, nearly two months later, repair work has reportedly not yet been carried out.

The stadium is scheduled to host ISL matches from October 10, with two Goa clubs participating this season. With the possibility of larger crowds, concerns have been raised over public safety, particularly during strong winds or heavy rain that could cause loose sheets to fall.

Stadium Executive Engineer Deepak Lotlikar said the area where the sheets are at risk of falling will be kept closed to spectators as a safety precaution.
