In a major move to encourage greater participation in sports, the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA) has introduced a new format for school sports competitions across Goa.
Announcing the initiative, Executive Director Ajay Gaude said the revamped system is aimed at ensuring that every student gets a fair opportunity to participate in sporting events.
Under the new format, all schools in each taluka have been grouped into equal clusters, replacing the earlier competition structure. Going forward, school sports events will be conducted at the cluster level, enabling wider participation and improving access to competitive sports for students across the state.
The department believes the new system will provide more students with the opportunity to showcase their sporting talent while strengthening grassroots sports development in Goa.
