With the 2027 Goa Assembly elections approaching, former Tourism Minister Micky Pacheco has revived his political plans under the United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP), announcing his intention to contest from Nuvem and stating that the party will field candidates across the state.

Pacheco has joined the party’s executive committee alongside 11 other advocates. The party is reportedly awaiting the allotment of its election symbol, with the two-leaves symbol being sought.

Explaining the party’s electoral strategy, Pacheco maintained that UGDP would not divide votes. He argued that uncertainty over Congress ticket distribution could lead to several aspirants contesting independently if denied nominations, potentially splitting the secular vote.

Pacheco also indicated that his wife would contest the elections, saying the decision was intended to counter allegations of dynastic politics. He criticised Amit Palekar over his participation in the ‘Goem Rakhon’ Yatra and made allegations concerning Palekar’s involvement in land deals.

Meanwhile, advocate Radharao Gracias said the UGDP had become inactive after executive committee elections were not conducted. However, some former members have now approached him and advocate Anacleto to explore reviving the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Gracias said they had no objection to the revival effort and were willing to issue a no-objection certificate (NOC). He also cautioned the Congress leadership against treating the Nuvem ticket as a political bargain, urging the party to select a deserving candidate rather than someone who might defect after being elected.
