Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane has said that Sindhudurg is being developed as an emerging industrial hub, with efforts underway to attract industries currently operating in Goa to the neighbouring district.

Rane said the focus is on creating employment opportunities locally so that young people from Sindhudurg will no longer have to travel to Goa in search of jobs.

He also stressed the need to strengthen skill development programmes to ensure that local youth are equipped to take up employment opportunities generated by new industries.

“Goan youth may soon have to come to Sindhudurg for jobs,” Rane said, while highlighting the growing industrial development planned for the region.

His remarks come at a time when concerns are being raised in Maharashtra over industries allegedly shifting out of the state to Gujarat. Against this backdrop, Rane's statement indicates Maharashtra's efforts to attract industries from neighbouring Goa and establish Sindhudurg as an industrial destination.

Rane said that with sustained development and investment, Sindhudurg could emerge as an industrial hub in the coming years.
