The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) staged a protest against alleged “vote chori” through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, demanding protection of voters’ rights and the safeguarding of democratic integrity.

The Congress has demanded that the electoral rolls prepared under the SIR process be scrapped, alleging that the exercise has violated various laws.

GPCC chief Girish Chodankar said the party had submitted its demands to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and given the authorities 10 days to act.

“We have given the CEO 10 days to act, failing which we will move court to challenge the SIR,” Chodankar said.
