Congress has set an ambitious target of winning 27 seats in the 2027 Goa Assembly elections, with Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao asserting that the party will move ahead with a united opposition.

Addressing the media, Alemao said Congress’s first step after forming the government would be to repeal Section 39A. He also expressed distrust in the Directorate of Panchayats despite its stop-work order in the Karapur case.

Alemao announced that Congress will launch the month-long ‘Goy Rakhonn Yatra’ from September 22 to October 18, beginning at Ambedkar Park in Panaji. The yatra will cover all 40 Assembly constituencies.

“This yatra is not of Congress; this yatra is of the common man,” Alemao said, adding that national leaders will be present at the launch.

Alemao also made a major promise on the Mhadei issue, stating that Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary will be declared a tiger reserve within the first 30 days of the Congress government coming to power.

Meanwhile, GPCC Chief Girish Chodankar said Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi, along with Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states, will participate in the ‘Goy Rakhonn Yatra’.
Chodankar said the yatra will reach the Chief Minister’s constituency on October 2, where Congress will celebrate Gandhi Jayanti.
