In the seventh meeting of PRAWAH, the Goa government demanded a joint inspection of the Kalasa-Bhandura project of the Karnataka government. The exclusive minutes of the PRAWAH meeting accessed by Prudent reveal that Goa has sought the joint inspection during the current monsoon season.
The seventh meeting of PRAWAH was held on July 7. According to the minutes of the meeting, Goa government representative on PRAWAH, S. S. Gill, reiterated the Goa government’s commitment towards the cooperative, scientific and sustainable management of the Mahadei basin.
Gill requested PRAWAH to give top priority to the proposed joint inspection of the Kalasa diversion scheme during the current monsoon season.
The Goa government has asked PRAWAH to give the highest priority to the long-pending joint inspection of the Kalasa Diversion Scheme during the current monsoon season, when actual flow conditions can be scientifically assessed.
The Goa government also asked PRAWAH to advise Karnataka to extend full cooperation and grant access to its members, technical experts and government officials to undertake a field inspection, drone survey and technical documentation of the Kalasa-Bhandura project and its catchment area.
The Karnataka government, meanwhile, stated that the Kalasa-Bhandura project had already undergone technical appraisal by the Central Water Commission and was awaiting the required clearances.
Karnataka submitted that the views of the state government had already been forwarded to the concerned authority.
