The opening of the new Porvorim flyover has brought a fresh traffic challenge on the roads below, with the restriction on two-wheelers shifting additional traffic onto the existing route and putting key junctions under growing pressure.

With two-wheelers barred from the flyover following accidents reported soon after its opening, commuters travelling towards Panaji and Porvorim are once again relying heavily on the old road.

The increased traffic is being felt at O Coqueiro, Damian de Goa and Guirim junctions, where vehicles joining and leaving the highway are creating bottlenecks.

At O Coqueiro junction, the absence of traffic signals and the convergence of vehicles from different directions have become a concern for commuters. The junction provides an important connection between the local road and the highway, making traffic movement particularly difficult during busy periods.

The situation is similar at Damian de Goa junction, where the road connecting to the highway is witnessing increased vehicle movement. Commuters say the growing traffic load is making the junction more difficult to navigate.

At Guirim junction, the return of traffic to the old route has also resulted in heavier movement, adding to congestion along the stretch.
