A fresh war of words has erupted within the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) after former party president Manoj Parab shared an audio clip on social media, questioning the narrative surrounding his presence at MLA Viresh Borkar’s victory rally in 2022.

Parab had alleged that statements made during a Margao meeting presented an incorrect narrative about his role in the rally and questioned the manner in which the issue was discussed before RGP supporters.

Responding to the allegations, Licio Roncon, personal secretary to MLA Viresh Borkar, claimed that the audio shared by Parab had been edited.

Roncon said he had spoken for around 20 minutes, but only about a minute of the conversation was posted on social media. He maintained that the portion circulated online was taken out of context and rejected Parab’s allegations.

According to Roncon, Parab had not attended the original victory rally following Borkar’s 2022 election victory. He claimed that the rally was held again the following day, when Parab subsequently attended.

Roncon also accused Parab of making false allegations and suggested that the former RGP president was pursuing “revenge politics” following his return to active political discourse.
