The Dhangar community has intensified its statewide campaign for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, with a large gathering held at the Taluka-Level Dhangar Melava in Mollem reaffirming its unity and determination to pursue the long-pending demand.

The Melava was organised as part of a sustained mobilisation drive aimed at bringing Dhangar families together and creating greater awareness about the community’s demand. According to organisers, 52 corner meetings have so far been conducted across different villages, along with three taluka-level Melavas.

With the campaign gaining momentum, the community plans to organise taluka-level Melavas across all talukas of Goa. The initiative is aimed at providing a common platform for members of the community and strengthening the movement across the State.

Community representatives at the Mollem gathering reiterated that the demand for ST status would continue to be pursued through democratic means. They called for greater participation and unity among Dhangar families as the statewide mobilisation enters its next phase.
