Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said the Goa Government is prioritising direct connectivity between the Goa Medical College (GMC) campus and the Super Speciality Block to facilitate faster movement of patients between the two facilities.

Speaking at a GMC function, Sawant said a plan has already been prepared to connect the main college/casualty building with the Super Speciality Block through an overbridge or fast-track link.

He said the proposed direct connection would be particularly important during emergencies, allowing patients to be shifted quickly from the casualty or operation theatre at GMC to the Super Speciality facility without having to travel by ambulance through the external road network.

Sawant said the project is aimed at developing the two facilities as one integrated medical campus and has been given priority by the government.

The Chief Minister also said the government is investing more than ₹500 crore in a short period to upgrade GMC infrastructure, including the College Block, hostels and a 100-bedded IPHB facility and day-care centre.
