In a major development in the controversial Azossim land dispute, the Tiswadi Deputy Collector has stayed proceedings concerning the takeover of 1.15 lakh square metres of land in the village, following a complaint by St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar.
The ex-parte ad-interim order puts on hold the implementation of a judgment dated May 27, 2026, and a consequential purchase order issued on October 9, 2026, concerning Survey Nos. 7/0, 64/1 and 6/0.
The Deputy Collector has directed the Mamlatdar and Joint Mamlatdar not to process or certify any mutation, alteration or changes in Form I & XIV and other revenue records relating to the disputed properties. Existing revenue entries have been ordered to remain undisturbed until further orders.
The court has also called for the original records and proceedings from the concerned authorities to examine the matter.
Notices have been issued to all parties, directing them to appear for the next hearing on November 24, 2026, when the respondents will be given an opportunity to present their case.
The interim order will remain in force until further directions from the Deputy Collector.
