The High Court has reserved its judgment after hearing final arguments from the petitioners and the Election Commission of India (ECI) in a petition challenging the non-inclusion of their names in the electoral roll following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

During the hearing, the ECI argued that the petition had become academic and that the petitioners should apply for inclusion in the electoral roll by filing Form 6.

Senior Advocate representing the ECI submitted that Form 8 could no longer be used in the present context, as the petitioners were seeking relief with reference to the pre-SIR electoral roll, which, according to the ECI, was no longer applicable.

The ECI contended that the issue had consequently become academic and maintained that the petitioners should file Form 6 to have their names included in the final electoral roll.

However, the petitioners expressed reluctance to file Form 6 during their final submissions. They pointed out that the form is intended for new voters and requires a declaration that could carry criminal consequences.

After hearing submissions from both sides, the High Court reserved its judgment in the matter.
