The High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Dharashiv (formerly Osmanabad), Maharashtra, to file an additional affidavit within two weeks detailing the specific steps taken in compliance with its earlier directions on child welfare. During the hearing, an affidavit in reply filed by the South Goa CWC was placed before the court. The Dharashiv CWC also submitted an affidavit containing details of four children repatriated from Goa, which the court formally took on record. The Dharashiv CWC sought additional time to file a detailed affidavit explaining the measures being taken for all the repatriated children, most of whom had been rescued from exploitation through begging in Goa. The affidavit is to address compliance with the High Court’s order dated September 23, 2026. The court granted the request and directed the committee to submit the additional affidavit on or before October 31, 2026. To facilitate an independent assessment, the High Court directed the Dharashiv CWC to provide the court-appointed amicus curiae with access to the personal records of the identified children. These include nine children identified by the North Goa CWC and five additional children identified by the South Goa CWC, as detailed in their respective affidavits. The court expressly directed the amicus curiae to maintain strict confidentiality regarding the identities of all the children while inspecting their personal records. The matter has been listed for further hearing and directions on December 1, 2026
