Three people lost their lives in two separate road accidents in Goa in the early hours of Monday, October 26, 2026. Two occupants of a Maharashtra-registered Triumph motorcycle were killed in a head-on collision with a taxi on the New Mandovi Bridge, while a 22-year-old man died in an accident involving a military vehicle and a two-wheeler at Goa Velha.

According to Porvorim Police, the first accident occurred at around 3.15 am on the New Mandovi Bridge, involving a Triumph motorcycle bearing registration number MH-03-DZ-9651 and a Maruti Ertiga taxi bearing registration number GA-04-T-8797.

The motorcycle, ridden by Mumbai student Kushagra Patale, with another male occupant, was travelling from Porvorim towards Panaji. The taxi was proceeding in the opposite direction when the two vehicles collided head-on.

Both motorcycle occupants sustained critical injuries and were shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim. They later succumbed to their injuries. The taxi driver, Rajkumar Kattimani, a resident of Sangolda, sustained minor injuries and was also taken to GMC for treatment.

Prima facie, police suspect that the taxi attempted to overtake by moving into the opposite lane, while the motorcycle was allegedly travelling at high speed. Porvorim Police are investigating the exact circumstances that led to the collision.

In a separate incident at Goa Velha, Mitesh Mohan Shet, 22, a resident of Guirim, lost his life in an accident involving a military vehicle and a two-wheeler. Further details about the circumstances of the accident were not immediately available.
