Local fish vendors in Pernem are facing severe financial distress due to an influx of outside fish sellers competing in their market. Despite Chief Minister Pramod Sawant's recent assurances to protect local business owners and the issuance of official identity cards to give them priority, local vendors say these promises are not being enforced on the ground. As outside vendors continue to sell freely in Goa's markets, local sellers feel sidelined and are demanding immediate government intervention. They are calling on the concerned department officials to strictly implement market rules and take firm action against unauthorized outside sellers to protect their livelihoods.
