CM Pramod Sawant announces education loans at 4% interest for ST and OBC students pursuing higher education outside Goa. • The Goa Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Chief Executive Engineer of Department of Drinking Water, Member Secretary of Goa State Pollution Control Board and the management of Club Mahindra Resort in Assonora following a complaint filed by local residents alleging the severe pollution of the Par River—the primary source of drinking water for the entire Bardez Taluka. MPT Pensioners Meet Sonowal, Seek Resolution of Long-Pending Grievances

The Mormugao Port Trust Pensioners’ Association has approached Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal seeking intervention in resolving its long-pending grievances concerning pensioners of the erstwhile Mormugao Port Trust.

Association President S. R. Fadte and General Secretary Digambar Tendulkar met Union Minister Sonowal in New Delhi, in the presence of Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power Shripad Naik. During the meeting, representatives of the association placed before the Union Minister their long-pending issues and sought his intervention for an early resolution. The association has been pursuing the grievances with the Mormugao Port Authority and other concerned authorities.

According to the association, Minister Sonowal gave a patient hearing to the representatives and subsequently spoke to the Chairperson of the Mormugao Port Authority over the phone, requesting that the pensioners’ grievances be examined and resolved. Sonowal also assured the representatives of the MPT Pensioners’ Association that their grievances would be addressed at the earliest.

The association expressed hope that the intervention of the Union Minister would expedite the resolution of the pending issues and provide relief to retired employees of the port.
