The Konkani Bhasha Mandal has taken strong objection to the move initiated by the Goa state council of educational research and training (GSCERT) of circulating the speech delivered by Swami Vivekananda at the world religious conference held at Chicago in English, Hindi and Marathi.
In a circular issued to high schools and higher secondary schools across Goa the GSCERT has directed to read out excerpts from the said speech circulated to institutitions in the above mentioned languages on 11th September.
The Mandal has said in a pressnote issued today that the authorities could have approached the Konkani Bhasha Mandal for the translation of the speech in Konkani language. It's an insult to the people of Goa, that the said speech is not circulated in the official language of the state.
The Mandal has warned the GSCERT to immediately do course correction and circulate the speech in Konkani.
