A building constructed for an automobile mechanical facility at the Kakoda Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) area has reportedly remained unused for nearly a decade, raising concerns among local residents over its neglect and deteriorating condition.

The facility was inaugurated in 2016, when Mahadev Naik was the IDC Minister and Ganesh Gaonkar was the IDC Chairman. However, despite the inauguration, the proposed project has reportedly not become operational.

Residents said the building has remained abandoned for several years, with prolonged neglect allegedly leading to deterioration of the structure and concerns over unauthorised entry into the premises.

Local resident Raju Morajkar urged the government to take immediate action, either by making the facility operational or ensuring that the premises are properly secured.

Morajkar warned that if the project is not taken forward, the authorities should restrict access to the building to prevent possible misuse, including drinking and other illegal activities.

Residents have called for the authorities to address the issue and ensure that the public facility does not continue to lie unused.
