The ongoing dispute between truck operators from Goa and Karnataka is expected to be resolved soon, with Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stepping in to address the matter. Speaking at a meeting held in Pernem, local MLA Pravin Arlekar assured truck owners that both he and MLA Jit Arolkar stand firmly in support of the Pernem and Bardez Truck Owners' Association.
The dispute intensified after Karnataka trucker associations warned the Goa administration to cease the alleged harassment of Karnataka registered drivers and demanded immediate protection. Local leaders and truckers from Karnataka threatened to halt the transport of essential commodities, including fresh vegetables and daily goods entering Goa, if their concerns were not addressed. In response, Goa’s leadership is actively intervening to smooth over cross border transport operations and safeguard the state's essential supply lines.
