Following massive youth protests in Delhi and across the country, the government assured students that a strict law would be introduced to prevent paper leaks and related issues. On Tuesday, July 28, the 'Public Examinations Amendment Bill, 2026' was tabled in Parliament for discussion.

The bill proposes fines of up to 10 crore and imprisonment for up to 10 years for anyone involved in paper leaks or similar offenses. Everyone involved in conducting exams, including service providers, will fall under the jurisdiction of this law.

Meanwhile, police cases registered against students in Maharashtra, Assam, and Bihar have been withdrawn by the government.
