Shravan month celebrations have begun in Goa with Nagpanchami being observed as the first major festival of the month.

Nagpanchami is traditionally dedicated to the worship of Nagas, or snakes, and is observed by Hindus across India. Devotees offer prayers and seek blessings while following various customs associated with the festival.

According to traditional beliefs, cooking on an iron pan or placing an iron pan on fire on Nagpanchami is avoided, as it is believed to bring harm. Another belief discourages ploughing or disturbing the earth on the day, out of concern that it could harm snakes.

In several Goan households, families also follow the tradition of bringing snake idols home and worshipping them as part of Nagpanchami observances.

The festival marks the beginning of a spiritually significant period for many Hindu families in Goa, with several religious celebrations and rituals held throughout the Shravan month.
