Israeli national Yaniv Benaim, alias Atala, has surrendered before the trial court at Merces following the direction of the High Court in connection with the drugs case.
Atala had been absconding since his bail was cancelled by the court on August 14 in the case.
Following his surrender, the trial court at Merces remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
Advocate Manguirish Usgaonkar, appearing for Atala, said that his bail application is pending before the High Court. The application is scheduled to be taken up for arguments on September 21.
