The historical Sakhali Fort has recently undergone a major renovation, giving the ancient structure a fresh new look. However, environmentalist and historian Rajendra Kerkar points out that the makeover is incomplete. Currently, the fort lacks the necessary attractions and basic amenities required to draw regular visitors and tourists, leaving the upgraded site largely empty.

To bring the fort to life, Kerkar emphasizes the need to pass its rich history down to the newer generation. He suggests that the Department of Archaeology should create a dedicated, year long plan to host cultural events and activities. "Additionally, establishing a library and other planned public facilities at the site would give people a meaningful reason to visit there", Kerkar Said.
