Professor Subhash Velingkar has appealed to voters to use their voting power in the upcoming Goa Assembly elections to press for official language status for Marathi.
Velingkar said the upcoming Assembly elections would be the committee’s final fight for Marathi to be recognised as an official language in Goa.
He accused both the Congress and BJP governments of neglecting the Marathi language and failing to address the demand for official language status.
Meanwhile, the committee has resolved to organise a public convention in November to intensify its campaign for recognition of Marathi as an official language.
