With the 2027 Goa Assembly elections approaching, MGP leader and Minister Sudin Dhavalikar has advised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to give election tickets only to loyal party workers who have remained committed to the organisation.
Dhavalikar said legislators who joined the BJP from the Congress should be asked to work for the party for the next five years before being considered for candidature. He stressed that dedicated party workers should be given priority when the BJP selects its candidates for the 2027 Assembly elections.
The MGP leader also cautioned that giving tickets to defectors could prove risky, emphasising that protecting and strengthening the party organisation must remain a priority.
His remarks come amid growing political preparations for the 2027 Goa Assembly elections, with questions likely to arise over the selection of candidates and the role of leaders who have switched parties.
Dhavalikar’s advice puts the spotlight on the BJP’s challenge of balancing the aspirations of newcomers with the expectations of its long-standing and loyal workers ahead of the crucial electoral battle.
