Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant took a swipe at Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, saying that speaking “yendu gundu” would not help anyone win votes in Goa, as Goans understand Konkani very well. He reiterated the BJP’s target of winning 30 of the 40 Assembly seats in the 2027 elections.
Speaking in Cortalim, Sawant also accused political opponents of becoming arrogant and being “drunk on the arrogance of power,” intensifying the political rhetoric ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls.
In a separate announcement, the Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, would be available in book form in Marathi and Konkani, making its content accessible to readers in both languages.
Sawant also warned landlords to complete police verification before renting out their properties following the detection of two Bangladeshi nationals in the area. He cautioned that failure to follow the prescribed verification procedures could lead to legal consequences.
