Former Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has raised suspicions of an alleged conspiracy behind the controversy involving Harmal Panchakroshi High School, demanding a speedy and impartial police investigation into the complaint filed by a parent. Mandrem MLA Jeet Arolkar, whose name has surfaced in the controversy, has strongly denied the allegations against him.
Addressing a press conference, Parsekar questioned the circumstances surrounding the complaint filed by Aarti Vijay Parab, who allegedly claimed that her son was assaulted by a teacher over a notebook-related issue and that she was confined inside a room on the school premises. An FIR has reportedly been registered against six teachers in connection with the case.
Parsekar pointed out that the alleged notebook incident dates back to April, while the confinement allegation relates to a more recent visit to the school. He urged the police to examine the facts, inspect the premises and establish the truth without delay.
Expressing suspicion that the complainant may be acting under someone else’s influence, Parsekar also suggested a possible political angle to the controversy. However, no independent evidence was presented to substantiate a link between the complaint and any political leader.
Jeet Arolkar Rejects Allegations
Reacting to the controversy, Mandrem MLA Jeet Arolkar clarified that he had no intention of interfering in anyone’s personal affairs. He said a woman had approached him in tears and narrated the incident she claimed to have experienced, following which he advised her to seek appropriate legal recourse.
“I do not interfere in anyone’s personal matters. However, if someone interferes in my personal matters, I too can speak about them,” Arolkar said.
Rejecting the allegations being levelled against him, the MLA remarked that even if an incident occurred elsewhere, attempts could be made to hold him responsible without any connection to the matter. He firmly maintained that the allegations against him were baseless.
Parsekar Defends School, Says Students Must Not Suffer
Parsekar defended Harmal Panchakroshi High School, highlighting its longstanding contribution to education and saying the institution should not be targeted while the case remains under investigation.
He also stressed that the children involved must not suffer because of the dispute and assured that they would not be deprived of their education. According to Parsekar, the students were admitted provisionally in December last year after their mother approached him for admission midway through the academic year.
While defending the school, Parsekar acknowledged that any teacher found guilty following the investigation should face appropriate disciplinary action. He maintained that the matter must be resolved on the basis of evidence, with the police establishing the facts and making the findings clear.
