South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes has come out in support of local taxi operators, criticising hotel owners for bringing in their own vehicles and allegedly sidelining local taxi operators.

Fernandes said that Goan taxi operators are the real ambassadors of the state and that the unfair treatment meted out to them will not be tolerated.
The MP's remarks come amid growing resentment among taxi operators in Varca, where a hotel owner has allegedly started operating his own vehicles.
Taxi operators have warned that they will launch an agitation if the hotel owner does not stop operating these vehicles and continues to sideline local taxi operators.
The issue has once again brought the concerns of Goa's local taxi operators and their livelihood into focus, particularly in the tourism sector.
