Political speculation in Goa has intensified following Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar’s meeting with BJP national president Nitin Nabin, amid discussions surrounding former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s possible return to the BJP. Parsekar’s induction into the party, however, has reportedly been postponed indefinitely.

Reacting to questions about Parsekar’s possible re-entry and its impact on Mandrem’s political equations, Arolkar clarified that he belongs to the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and that decisions concerning the BJP’s internal affairs and alliances rest with the BJP leadership. Dismissing suggestions of political pressure or insecurity, he maintained that his focus remains on his party and constituency.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade welcomed the possibility of Parsekar returning to the BJP, describing him as a senior leader who had served twice as the party’s state president and held the post of Chief Minister.

“Nobody can block anyone in BJP,” Tanavade said, dismissing speculation that anyone could prevent Parsekar from rejoining the party. He explained that such decisions are taken through the party’s established process involving the state leadership and the central high command.

Tanavade also played down concerns over the political implications for Mandrem, pointing out that the MGP continues to be an alliance partner of the BJP.
