A possible return of RGP founder Manoj Parab to lead the organisation has emerged as a key development ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections, with party leader Ajay Kholkar saying Parab has responded positively to the request to come back.

Speaking to reporters, Kholkar said senior RGP functionaries had held discussions on rebuilding the party organisation, reconstituting dissolved committees and preparing an election strategy. He indicated that the party’s structure and future direction would become clearer within the next two to three days.

Kholkar said the request for Parab to return stemmed from the need to strengthen the organisation and restore clear leadership ahead of the elections. Describing Parab as the driving force behind RGP’s original vision, he said the founder had given a positive response, although the final decision on his role would be taken collectively.

Kholkar also asserted that RGP remained united despite the ongoing dispute over its leadership and representation. He challenged the authority of individuals involved in separate alliance discussions with Congress, claiming they were not authorised to represent the party. These assertions come amid an ongoing dispute over the party’s leadership and official identity.

Maintaining that his faction holds the party’s official records and football symbol, Kholkar said RGP would contest the 2027 Assembly elections under its banner and would take legal action against any unauthorised use of its name or symbol.

With Diwali approaching, Kholkar expressed hope that Parab would make a major announcement on an auspicious day, potentially setting the stage for RGP’s next phase of political preparations.
