Goa’s aviation sector is set to witness a decline in scheduled domestic flight departures in November 2026, with both Dabolim and Manohar International Airport at Mopa recording lower daily departures compared with November 2025.

According to the airport-wise data provided, the two airports are projected to handle a combined 90.5 domestic departures per day in November 2026, down from 102.5 a day in the corresponding period last year, marking a decline of around 12%.

Dabolim Airport is expected to record 53.5 daily domestic departures, compared with 56 in November last year, a decline of approximately 4%. Mopa is projected to handle 37 departures daily, down from 46.5, marking a sharper 20% drop.

The figures indicate a contraction in scheduled domestic flight capacity at both airports, with Mopa witnessing the steeper decline. IndiGo remains the largest operator at both airports, while the Air India Group also contributes a significant share of daily departures.

The trend in Goa reflects a broader national decline in domestic flight departures. Across the 20 airports listed in the data, daily departures are projected to fall from 2,558 in November 2025 to 2,387.5 in November 2026, a reduction of approximately 7%. Delhi remains the busiest airport in the comparison, followed by Mumbai and Bengaluru.

The projected decline in flight departures raises questions about Goa’s domestic air connectivity and its ability to sustain capacity during the tourism season. However, the data does not establish the reasons behind the reductions or whether they will continue in subsequent months.

In a separate development, the Goa government has reduced Value Added Tax (VAT) on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) from 15% to 7%, effective October 24, 2026. The move aims to ease the tax burden on airlines, strengthen air connectivity and support tourism.

The decision has been welcomed by Air India, Akasa Air and IndiGo, which have acknowledged the government’s move to support the state’s aviation sector. The impact of the tax reduction on future flight schedules and capacity remains to be seen.
