Goa has launched its AI Policy 2026, with the state government aiming to expand the use of artificial intelligence in skill development, startups, research and capacity building.

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and IT Minister Rohan Khaunte unveiled the policy at the Goa AI Tech Conclave 2026 in Panaji. Khaunte described the launch as a proud moment, stating that Goa is among the few states to introduce an AI policy focused on the betterment of its youth.

Sawant emphasised the need to make artificial intelligence accessible to a wider section of society. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of taking AI to the people, the Chief Minister said efforts should focus on ensuring that more people benefit from the technology through skilling, entrepreneurship and capacity building.

On the occasion, the Department of IT, Electronics and Communications also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BITS Pilani – K.K. Birla Goa Campus to strengthen collaboration in AI development.

The partnership is expected to support AI research, encourage startups, promote skill development and facilitate practical applications of artificial intelligence.
