The Goa Government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the High Court order on political reservation for Scheduled Tribes in the state, Minister Ramesh Tawadkar told Prudent Media.

Tawadkar said separate petitions are also expected to be filed by the Central Government and the ST community. He added that a delegation held discussions with Solicitor General Tushar Mehta in Delhi to address the legal and technical hurdles surrounding the issue.

Expressing confidence that the matter would move forward well before the 2027 Assembly elections, Tawadkar said the government was pursuing the legal process to resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, BJP Goa President Damu Naik reiterated the party’s commitment to securing political reservation for Scheduled Tribes, stating that the BJP stands firmly with the community and will take the fight to Delhi.

Naik said the government is examining the legal and technical aspects of the High Court order in consultation with the concerned ministry and advocates.
