Congress Goa president Girish Chodankar has welcomed the Goa Forward Party’s (GFP) stand in favour of a Grand Alliance, saying its positive approach has opened the door for discussions on a possible political understanding ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.

Chodankar said alliance talks had earlier been put on hold by the concerned leaders, but the latest positive signals could pave the way for discussions in the future.

Meanwhile, Chodankar accused Digambar Kamat of creating obstacles in organising the concluding ceremony of the Goy Rakhonn Yatra. He alleged that permission was not granted for the event at Lohia Maidan, despite the ground not being anyone’s personal property.

The Congress leader further alleged that Kamat had also created hurdles in organising the finale at the Costa and MCC grounds.

Chodankar criticised the alleged interference, raising questions over the difficulties faced by the organisers in holding the concluding ceremony of the yatra.
