Dengue cases are witnessing a sharp rise at the South Goa District Hospital, with the number of positive cases increasing significantly in recent months.

According to hospital data, 79 dengue patients were admitted and 91 tested positive in July 2026, making it the worst month in terms of admissions and positive cases over the past four months.

In June, the hospital recorded 29 dengue admissions and 38 positive cases, while May saw eight admissions and nine positive cases.

The numbers have continued to rise in August. Till August 10, 27 patients have been admitted and 71 have tested positive for dengue at the hospital. The August figures are only up to August 10 and do not represent the complete month.

Doctors have urged residents to remain vigilant amid the surge in cases.

“People need to take the rising number of dengue cases seriously,” said Dr. Rajendra Borkar, warning that the number of cases has risen sharply in recent days.

He advised people experiencing fever for three to four days to get themselves tested immediately and urged residents to take necessary precautions as dengue cases continue to increase across the region.
