The Terekhol-Keri ferry service in Pernem taluka is facing operational difficulties due to insufficient water near the ramp at the ferry jetty on the Terekhol River, causing inconvenience to daily commuters.
The ferry's propellers are reportedly getting stuck in the sand due to the shallow water near the jetty, making it difficult for the vessel to approach the ramp and operate smoothly.
The problem has affected passengers travelling between Terekhol and Keri in both directions. The ferry is reportedly forced to dock at a distance from the jetty, making it difficult for passengers to board and disembark, particularly those travelling with vehicles.
Local residents said the ferry service is an important mode of transport for people in the area and that the continuing disruption is causing daily hardship.
When contacted, local panchayat representatives, including the Sarpanch and Panch members, said the issue had already been brought to the attention of the concerned officials and departments.
