Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that suspended Police Inspector Vikas Deykar will be arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault case involving a 16-year-old minor. Stating that the investigation is underway, Sawant asserted, “He will be arrested.”

Deykar was suspended on October 31 after Old Goa police registered a case against him and Ranjini Palyekar under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and POCSO Act. The complaint alleges that Deykar sexually assaulted the minor at the Crime Branch premises in Ribandar on July 25 and October 27, while Palyekar allegedly facilitated the incidents.

The Chief Minister also said that Ajit Shankhwalkar, wanted in an alleged government job fraud case, would be traced. Panaji police have registered two FIRs against the Taleigao resident for alleged cheating and forgery.

Shankhwalkar allegedly collected ₹27 lakh promising an Excise Department appointment and another ₹25 lakh for a Deputy Director of Accounts post, providing forged appointment letters to the job seekers. The alleged fraud came to light when one of the candidates approached the Excise Department to join duty.
