The Goa Tourism Department has officially listed 19 activities as punishable "nuisances" across the state’s tourist destinations. Issued by Tourism Director Kedar Naik, the new directive gives police and tourism officials stronger legal powers to take action against violators. The move aims to clean up Goa's tourist spots and improve its overall image.

Under the new order, several common activities are strictly banned. These include driving vehicles on beaches, cooking or littering in open public spaces, and throwing waste on the beach. Furthermore, drinking alcohol in non-designated areas, breaking glass bottles, and blocking emergency or beach cleaning vehicles are now classified as illegal offences.

Unauthorised commercial operations are also facing a heavy crackdown. Unlicenced masseurs trailing tourists on the sand, hawkers, vagabonds, and illegal ticket hawkers for river cruises or water sports will no longer be tolerated. Additionally, loud beach parties, unauthorised events, and ticket counters set up in unpermitted locations will face strict enforcement.

Violators will face fines starting at ₹5,000, which can go up to ₹1 lakh depending on the severity of the offense. Beyond financial penalties, offenders are also liable for criminal prosecution under Section 223 of the BNS, 2023, for disobeying orders.
