In a setback to former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal, the Supreme Court has rejected his plea seeking suspension of his conviction and sentence in the 2013 rape case. The apex court has also rejected his bail plea.

Tejpal was convicted by the Bombay High Court at Goa and sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment for raping a junior colleague inside the elevator of a five-star hotel in Bambolim.

The case dates back to 2013, when the incident allegedly took place during an event at the hotel.

With the Supreme Court rejecting his pleas, Tejpal will continue serving his ten-year sentence at Colvale Jail in Goa.
