Colva police conducts narcotics raid at Bhattiwaddo, Cavelossim; arrests Issac Regan Pereira (29) for allegedly being in illegal possesion of 3.5 kg ganja w/Rs 3.5 lakhs; probe underway  •  The Bombay High Court has sentenced Tarun Tejpal to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment in the 2013 rape case, imposed a Rs5 lakh fine payable to the survivor, and granted him four weeks to surrender. Advocate General Devidas Pangam said the court convicted Tejpal under IPC provisions relating to rape and abuse of a position of trust and authority.  •  Goa Congress has constituted a Chargesheet Committee to prepare a report on alleged failures, corruption, misgovernance and policy issues of the BJP government ahead of the Goem Rakhon Yatra. The committee will be headed by Sunil Kawthankar and includes Rahul Mahambrey, Amit Palekar, Mangaldas Naik, Shashank Narvekar, Rajesh Verenkar, Assiz Noronha, Archit Naik and Dr Pratiksha Khalap.  •  The High Court has sentenced Tarun Tejpal to ten years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of 5 lakh rupees. Earlier today, the High Court convicted him of raping a junior colleague in 2013, when she worked under him at Tehelka magazine.  •  A 43-year-old motorcyclist, Mahadev Chandrakant Sawant of Zuarwada, Tivrem (native of Banda, Sawantwadi), died while undergoing treatment at PHC Betki after a head-on collision between his motorcycle and a car at Khandola  •  An old tree fell onto a security cabin near Kamat Kinara in Panaji, trapping a security guard inside; victim feared dead; police on site and rescue efforts underway  •  "We will appeal the High Court's judgment in the Supreme Court.
