Goa is likely to continue experiencing hot and humid weather over the next three days, with maximum temperatures expected to cross 36°C, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned. A yellow warning has been issued for October 13, 14 and 15, advising residents to take precautions against the uncomfortable weather conditions.

N. P. Kulkarni, Director In-Charge of IMD Goa, said deficient rainfall during the ongoing monsoon withdrawal, rising temperatures and elevated relative humidity levels are contributing to the prevailing conditions across Goa and the Konkan region.

Kulkarni explained that temperatures have remained above normal over the past few days, with mercury levels reaching around 36°C. The combination of high temperatures and moisture in the atmosphere has intensified the discomfort.

He further attributed the conditions to an anticyclonic circulation that has formed over the region, along with the moisture already present in the atmosphere.

The IMD's yellow warning indicates a need for caution. Residents have been advised to stay well hydrated, wear caps when stepping outdoors and avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon heat.

According to Kulkarni, the hot, humid and dry conditions are expected to persist over the next three days. Thereafter, light thundershowers are likely at isolated places across Goa's three districts from October 17 onwards, bringing the possibility of some relief from the prevailing heat.

Residents are advised to follow official weather updates and take necessary precautions until conditions improve.
