In a unique initiative to help students experience and understand India’s freedom struggle, the Government Primary School, Naiguinim-Kudchire organised a special exhibition of a rare edition of The Hindu dated August 15, 1947.

The historic newspaper was displayed as part of the Independence Day celebrations, giving students an opportunity to see how the country’s independence was reported on the day India became free.
The initiative aimed to connect students with history beyond textbooks and provide them with a first-hand glimpse of the events and atmosphere surrounding India’s Independence.

The exhibition also attracted interest from parents, residents and former students, turning the school into a space where history came alive through the pages of a newspaper published nearly eight decades ago.
