Konkani music is witnessing an unprecedented celebration, with thousands of singers joining hands for a massive musical marathon aimed at securing a place in the Guinness World Records.

The First World Konkani Music Mega Convention has brought together more than 6,789 singers representing 300 teams, including 53 teams from Goa. The participants are taking part in a continuous singing programme featuring over 4,500 Konkani songs over a duration of 12 days, 12 hours and 12 minutes.

The initiative is being organised as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of Mandd Sobhann, an organisation dedicated to promoting Konkani language, music and culture.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant attended the convention and congratulated Mandd Sobhann President Louis J. Pinto, Dr Ronald Colaco and the organising committee for bringing together singers on such a large platform.

Addressing the gathering, Sawant highlighted the cultural links between Goa and Karnataka, noting that Konkani continues to connect people across regions through a shared language, traditions and heritage.

The participation of hundreds of teams and thousands of performers has turned the convention into a large-scale showcase of Konkani musical traditions, with the Guinness World Records attempt adding an international dimension to the celebrations.

The event also marks four decades of Mandd Sobhann's contribution towards preserving and promoting Konkani identity through music and cultural activities.
